Chapter Job Duties

President

Organize and conduct all Chapter Meetings, in conjunction w/Secretary

Organize and conduct all Executive Board Meetings, in conjunction w/Secretary

Organize and conduct any other meetings required to facilitate Chapter business

Maintain a general working knowledge of all Chapter business

Vice-President

Perform all duties of the President and presides over meetings in the absence of the President

Attend all general and Executive Board meetings plus any others at the request of the President in order to maintain a working knowledge of all chapter business.

Interpreter(s)

Attend and participate in the PIAA Mandatory Rules Meeting for Track and Field/Cross Country Chapter Rules Interpreters (late January).

Prepare and present the agenda and the NFHS PowerPoint on Track and Field/Cross Country Rules Changes, Major Editorial Changes, Points of Emphasis, and Select PIAA Modifications of same at the Track and Field/Cross Country Chapter Annual Mandatory Rules Interpretation Meeting (late February).

Utilizing the PIAA Track and Field/Cross Country Meeting Guide, the PIAA Suggested Techniques for Track and Field Officiating, the NFHS Track and Field/Cross Country Rules Book, and the NFHS Track and Field/Cross Country Case Book; prepare and present a “Rules Lesson” at the beginning of each scheduled Track and Field/Cross Country Chapter meeting (March-April).

Respond to questions from Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches and Officials regarding NFHS Track and Field/Cross Country Rules and/or PIAA Modifications of same (March-May/Track & Field and August-October/Cross Country).

Treasurer

The Treasurer is in charge of ensuring that the chapter’s bank account is in good standing and gives an accounting at each meeting. The Treasurer keeps records of members’ dues status and keeps members informed when behind. The Treasurer also is the primary signer of all checks and responsible for paying all bills in a timely manner. 

Corresponding Secretary

The Chapter Secretary has numerous duties that are spelled out in the PIAA Officials Handbook. Those mostly involve keeping track of membership rolls of the chapter and maintaining communication with PIAA headquarters. The secretary is also responsible for making sure that all chapter meetings and attendance are posted and recorded on the PIAA website. Specific duties are listed here

Recording Secretary

The Recording Secretary shall keep minutes of each regular chapter meeting and record all actions and topics presented during the meeting. Following each meeting, those minutes shall be placed for public view on the chapter’s website.

Member-at-Large

The Members-at-Large shall attend all Executive Board Meetings and have voting privileges, along with other officers on all business taken up by the Executive Board outside the official season and regular chapter meetings. With the rest of the Board, they shall help set meeting dates for the coming year at the end of each season. Members-at-Large should attempt to represent the entire chapter rather than just their own personal viewpoints.
